TOGAF® Certification FAQ's

Q.What is TOGAF 9.1?
TOGAF 9.1 is a maintenance update to TOGAF 9, containing a set of corrections to address comments raised since the introduction of TOGAF 9 in 2009. TOGAF 9.1 supersedes TOGAF 9.

Q. What is the impact on TOGAF 9 certification?
1. The TOGAF 9 People Certification program has been designed to accommodate maintenance updates to the TOGAF 9 specification, such as TOGAF 9.1.
2.The certification remains as TOGAF 9 Foundation and TOGAF 9 Certified. Individuals who are currently certified in the TOGAF 9 People Certification program remain certified.
3.In the period between December 1st 2011 and June 1st 2012 candidates can study either TOGAF 9.0 material or TOGAF 9.1 material, and the examinations have been designed to accommodate both up to June 2013.
4. From June 2013 the examinations will include new topic material from TOGAF 9.1.

Q. How do vouchers work?
There are two forms of vouchers, those for use with the Internet Based Test (IBT)System, and another for Prometric test centers. They are not interchangeable. They are used as a form of payment to take the examination. For IBT usage they need to be input when commencing a test.

Q. How are Candidates notified of their Certification and where do they get their certificates?
All candidates receive an email notification within 6 working days of exam results being posted that asks them to sign in and accept the trademark license agreement and retrieve their certificate.
Once they have done that, they are able to adjust the visibility of their entry on the Directory of Certified People. If they are visible, they are listed under the TOGAF® 9 directory at: https://www.opengroup.org/togaf9/cert/register.html

Q. Can candidates obtain a paper certificate?
No, certificates are only available in electronic form (pdf) from the Directory of Certified People.

Q. Why do some tests say that results are withheld and I should contact the Sponsor?
This is for tests in IBT where gradient scoring is in effect. These require automated offline scoring to ensure all partially correct answers are credited. This is done when the results are received at The Open Group. Note that the message within the IBT system to contact the sponsor is fixed in the system, and not necessary. The Open Group will contact all candidates within six working days with the pass/fail result of the test. The Open Group will also send pass/fail results periodically to each Accredited training course provider.

Q. How can candidates obtain their test score for results withheld?
The test score is made available in The Open Group web system when candidates accept the trademark license agreement to become certified.

Q. How are Open Book exams handled?
An electronic copy of the TOGAF® 9 specification is provided as part of the examination --- a pdf version of TOGAF® 9 and a pdf reader are included as part of the TOGAF® 9 Part 2 and the TOGAF® 8 - 9 Advanced Bridge examinations. In the TOGAF® 9 Combined examination, the pdf reference becomes available within the exam only in the relevant part.
